Arbitration Decision and Member Support

The Ontario Principals’ Council (OPC) is pleased to share a recent arbitration award involving the OPC and the Upper Grand District School Board. In this case, a discipline letter was issued against the principal following an investigation into three Twitter/X posts on her personal account. The award states that there was a procedural flaw in the Board’s investigation process, and the discipline imposed on the principal was unjustified.

We are sharing this decision, so the membership is aware of the PST’s work and their role in the investigation process. Members involved in an investigation are encouraged to contact the PST for support.

Public Statement

Bill 101 has passed without meaningfully addressing feedback from education partners.

The OPC remains concerned about the impact on students, increasing workload pressures for principals and vice-principals and the potential for disruption across Ontario’s education system. We shared a public statement last week.
