Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Summit
The OPC will be partnering with Diverse City Strategies to host the next EDI Summit on November 12-13, 2026 in Mississauga. This event has grown year after year and participants appreciated the focus on supporting Indigenous and racialized educators as well as confronting and responding to resistance. Please save the date and look for registration information in September.

This month’s post highlights the growing impact of student mental health needs in Ontario schools. Principals and vice-principals spend nearly 20% of their day responding to student mental health crises, underscoring the need for accessible supports and services before students reach a crisis point.

Regulation Feedback
We continue to monitor proposed regulations and policy changes that may affect principals and vice-principals. We provide feedback to the Ministry of Education to help ensure that implementation considerations, operational realities and the perspectives of school leaders are reflected in the regulatory process. Recent work has included responding to proposed regulations under Bill 101 and proposed amendments to PPM 161, Supporting Children and with Prevalent Medical Conditions Including Asthma in Schools.
