- Organize a shared computer record system so that all administrators in the
school can easily access notes on students.
- Set up a paper processing system. Keep colour-coded files labeled “today,”
“this week,” “this month,” “this term” and “other.” Sort and file papers as soon
as they arrive on your desk.
- Keep a tickler file in the file drawer of your desk. A tickler file contains a
hanging file for each month and individual folders labeled 1-31 behind the
current month. This system helps organize important papers and call slips you
need for a particular day.
- Keep active files close to your desk. Keep inactive ones elsewhere.
- Categorize files by active or inactive, then alphabetically or by subject.
Your success comes down to the difference between managing your work
and letting your work manage you.
