Confidentiality and the Duty to Report Last Updated: 2012-06-15

The Child, Youth and Family Services Act 2017 makes clear that educators have a duty to report if they have reason to suspect (or information regarding) a child who is or may be in need of protection. This applies even though the information may be confidential or privileged.

Follow your board’s procedures regarding reporting suspected child abuse and neglect.
