You are prevented by law from disclosing the contents of an O.S.R. to third parties. If you are subpoenaed to produce in court an Ontario Student Record (OSR) of a current or former student, seek legal advice through your supervisory officer from your board’s lawyer regarding disclosure and court procedures. Contact the OPC Protective Services Team for advice.
Follow your board’s procedures regarding Ontario Student Records.
Handling OSRs
Each time you handle an OSR, for whatever reason, review its contents and organization. In this way you are conducting your own informal audit of the OSRs in the school. At the same time, you are learning more about the students and also about the staff members who have prepared the documents in the OSR.
