School boards must consult with school councils on the process and criteria
applicable to the selection and placement of principals and vice-principals.
However, school councils will not have a direct role in selecting principals and viceprincipals for their respective schools.
School councils will be consulted by the board on the development of board policies and procedures regarding selection and placement that will apply across the district school board.
The special needs of individual schools may be taken into account within the board policy, but the policy ought not to be reactive to complaints about a particular principal or vice-principal.
