Conflict of Interest
|
Last Updated: 2012-06-15 |
A conflict of interest may arise where a person in authority is involved in an activity
that can result in personal gain to himself/herself, a family member or a close
associate. An example could involve the purchase of school materials from a relative,
without involving the open competitive purchasing process. Another example would
be a purchase for the school, from you as a separate company. This can have serious
consequences for the employee. Refer to Section 217 of the Education Act and,
when in doubt, check with the board’s business office before proceeding with the
transaction.
