Every school and school board is vulnerable to crisis. As school leaders, administrators should always be prepared to manage a crisis, with the support of school board personnel, emergency services and other members of the community.
Put simply, a school crisis is any situation that is threatening or has the potential to threaten the safety of people or property, and/or an issue that may significantly damage reputation or negatively impact student success. Examples include a large-scale evacuation, natural disasters, acts of violence and a public health epidemic.
