Clear goals bring people together and give them a purpose for collaborating. The school council may have too many priorities, unclear priorities or no priorities. The result may be little momentum, wasted resources and diminished support.

Possible goals for the school council might include:

to improve literacy and numeracy
to improve student behaviour
to promote parental involvement
to improve the physical appearance of the school
to focus on healthy lifestyles.

Leading the school council through a planning process can be very rewarding.
