The College is responsible for governing the conduct of its members, including teachers, principals, supervisory officers, directors and many private school teachers.

Under the Ontario College of Teachers Act, the College investigates complaints against members of the College when the complaint concerns alleged professional misconduct, incompetence or incapacity.
