Administrative Software
Familiarize yourself with the administrative software used throughout the school for
report cards, timetabling, special education documentation, budget, library
cataloguing and purchasing.
You do not need to be able to personally use every piece of administrative software,
but it is helpful to know what software is used, who uses it, and for what purpose.
It is also important to determine who the backup person is for a particular task (e.g.
daily online reporting of staff absences) in the event that the usual staff member is
not available for the job.
Personal Productivity Technology
Make a conscious effort to keep yourself up-to-date on new software and technology
that you can use to make your own job easier.
Software designed for word processing, accounting, timetabling, personal scheduling
and data management is readily available and constantly updated.
Find out what your experienced colleagues recommend, establish your priorities and
identify the new software programs and technologies that you want to master this year.
Learn how to use video conferencing both from your computer and the board’s
