- Resist the urgency of email but respond in a timely fashion.
- Assign set times of the day to handle email (e.g. 8:00 a.m. or 4:30 p.m.).
- Allow a fixed time for email and stick to it.
- Delete unopened, any spam, e-zines and trivia before you start. Answer other
email in priority sequence.
- To save information create files (e.g. budget, staffing).
- Respond to email in simple and brief language, be courteous.
- Sometimes a phone call is more appropriate than email.
Managing Your Email
Think of email as a micro meeting. Never check email in the morning. Spend each morning doing the most important task to your business and working on it until it is finished. Let your email program work for you.
