Every school council must pass a by-law that, in accordance with any applicable
policies established by the board, establishes a conflict resolution process for internal
school council disputes.
A conflict resolution process may have the principal perform a mediator or arbitrator
role, or may rely on other board personnel to provide an outside perspective and
relative impartiality in this regard. It is recommended that, at the very least, such a
process include a mechanism for removing dysfunctional members from the council
by way of a 2/3 vote.
